Townsville to Cairns and underwater!!

 Leaving Townsville
 Bear found a critter friend

Esther preparing us for the very long drive...

There have been a few Deep Creeks so far...just like home...

Miles and miles of sugar cane...its an enormous industry

Getting the prepared for next years planting and harvest of sugar cane

We have travelled through many towns so far and we haven't got far on this big land of ours.

Travelling at night, getting as far as we can

Getting to Caldwell for a sleep.

The boys thought they'd go for a walk at night but saw a crocodile sign and had second thoughts...

a beautiful morning

And some cheeky local birds that flocked to the trees above our bus to say 'good morning'

A quick morning walk along the path, away from the crocodiles...'Handbag' to the locals

Through Tully, where they were just about to start cane harvesting but we just missed out on a tour of the factory, two weeks too early

Cane train

Found a great little fruit and vegie stall

We found fruit we hadn't tried before

The young girl working the stall was so nice, she helped us pick fruit ready to eat and even let us try before we bought...

people up here are so friendly and happy to help out

 Dragon fruit
 Oh they are funny!!!

These bananas were so sweet and yummy

Even tried paw paw...it was like a cross between mango and rockmelon

yellow dragon fruit was really yummy, we didn't buy enough

and passionfruit

Banana plantations are becoming a regular sight

more sugar cane

More towns...

Beautiful scenery...

Can't wait to go here!!! Coffee Works at Mareeba

We made it to Cairns for a swim first.
At the free 'lagoon' right on the shore.
Set up just like a beach, because when the tide is out, its out for miles.

Port Douglas and we met some fishermen that had just come in from a two week fishing trip.
They were more than happy to show off their catch

Getting excited for our trip on the Great Barrier Reef, all day trip

Keeping an eye on all the snorkelers.
All staff were fantastic and looked after our every need.
Thank you to Quicksilver.

This was a trip to the local, where they raced cane toads.
Couldn't stop laughing and it was the first time we saw toads on our trip.

Made it to Mareeba Coffee Works

So in heaven right now.... look at all the coffee!!!
As much as you can drink

A complimentary chilla for the kids!
OOOO Yumm!!!

and did I mention there was chocolate, all you can eat!?!!

Stopped at Mt Garnet overnight and found this special stream
It was at boiling point coming out of the sand below.
You could dig a hole and let the cold stream mix in to get the perfect temperature...

It was sooooo nice to rest our weary bones....and actually it was great for clearing the skin too

Watch out though!! It is hot in certain parts of the stream
 see the steam

so relaxing!!

Oh Eliza, please!!
such an Oma!!

Well that is the 'END' alright...
