Its a Longreach to Winton

A beautiful welcome to a new day

Little way to go still

First mob of sheep we've seen

Funny bits of landscape catch our attention...

Definitely making you feel Welcome here

Eliza loves her water towers and asks me to take photos of all of them

We had to come here and get an education on how they do it in the bush

The catchment area of students at the school...massive

Getting the grand tour

Some projects children did at home, they were pretty impressive. Even the welding was done by the children.

Phil doesn't look comfortable being in the classroom.

Bear does!! a little too comfortable

This was an education alright...here is what we saw on screen.
The work on the right and the student on the left, all live streaming for us.

And the radio room with the teacher giving the lesson

On to the cattleman's Hall of Fame.
Phil thinks it should really be call the Queensland Cattlemen because it really was about just the Queensland country.

 There she is...Big Red
There he is...Big Phil

Casey learning about Australian history

Eliza learning how to pick a good thread...

A great horseman - Lochie Cossor, from Yackandandah

Playing with the horse, very well trained horse

And Lochie on his beloved bull

We got to meet the stars of the show...the animals

The blokes chatting about the country back home in the Valley

Having some stew for lunch, included in the price of the show

The beginning of QANTAS (Queensland and Northern Territory Airline Service)

First 'Toad-ally' grosse road kill!

These cauldron of hawks at the showgrounds... that one's for you Uncle Mark

The trip to get to the dinosaurs was quite an adventure, with signs along the way.

What a funny bunch

"Hey Mum! Look Down!"

This was a great education

Most of these bones were actually the real thing!

Hip joint of Matilda, found around Winton

The bone on the right was a cow bone, the larger the equivalent thigh bone of Matilda

"Mum, I got me a dinosaur...Can we keep him?"

Meet Nacho (Ignacio) from Spain. He is walking the Globe. It has been his dream and he has already walked South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, with Africa to go.

We had seen him two days earlier at Cloncurry.
This day he had walked 50km only eating an apple and drinking 8Lt of water.

The kids loved him and had him over for tea, making sure he had a good feed of mash potatoes, sausages in gravy and vegies. I'm sure he slept well, under the stars in his tent.
If you want to read more on Nacho go to...

One man's invention,

Kept this musical family amused for ages

This is the fence, designed to be able to play "Waltzing Matilda"

What a band

Phil actually got the tune out

This Dodge had the front the same as Casey's

Look at that pose

The little clown!
