Darwin...definitely created by God!!

Another short drive to the next town...

these two just enjoying being creative...Benjamin just with his face! LOL

This is the farmland here. I wonder how many farmers lose cattle to crocs...I wouldn't think too many crocs would last long if they took one.

Lee Point Beach

Benjamin's photo

just trying to work out my camera and how to take a sunset photo, getting all the settings just right for the perfect shot.
What I cannot show you is the nudist that was sitting just to the right of this picture, which Esther thought was 'feral'!!

up near the yacht club

We were able to hold an 18month old crocodile.
These ones are bred for handbags and other useful items...sad but true

His jaws were like concrete and even at this age could do damage

This guy's puny!

killing a (wooden) mouse with the cheese knife

Breaky in the bus

ahhhh, if only we had laws like this in Vic...the boys would be happy

my new handbag, after my one got stolen last week.
Its made of inner tube. I think it's cool, the boys think I'm nuts!

Entering Parliament House

free tours...gotta love it.

Harry Chan, a very well liked and hardworking man in Darwin back when Darwin was only very young.

Question time Benjamin: "Why is the eagle facing toward the left and not front ways facing us?"

A reference to the bombing of Darwin with the tops of the corner pillars of the building looking like bomb tails.

Jenny our tour guide did a wonderful job explaining the history of Darwin and its people.
The structure of NT Parliament and some other interesting facts.
Here she points out where exactly a bomb hit the old post office site, killing 10 people.

Some shrapnel found after the bombing of Darwin is now displayed within the building.

Some aerial photos of before and after the bombing.

I actually loved this tour.

The Supreme Court, next door to Parliament

Down in the Civic Centre
These bells were in an arc at the civic centre of town. Each one different sizes with different notes.
Being played in a certain order, making a particular tune.

A selfie at the "Tree of Knowledge". Could be between 200-300 years old. The council changing building plans to accommodate the tree.

We found this awesome water park.
Free of charge and with lifeguards and free bbqs...what more could we ask for?...

The kids loved them...

even the big kid!

love these smiles!

Beautiful girl, sticking to her little water park.

It was a biggy

They slept well!

An education for all of us at the Darwin Museum

Eliza found a beautiful friend

It was quite moving and the kids all learnt a lot from this visit

Just taking a break

The trees here are amazing and this museum has lots of 'relics' placed outside to learn about

Our brave servicemen

Just search Nackaroos

Pa will know what this is

Just having a cool off at the end of a warm day

First of many catches, all too small to have a meal

This is Casey's photo

Getting ready for NT Day...cant wait

As far as your eye could see along the Beach at Lee Point were bon fires and people.

The sight was amazing and the sound exploding!!

We all turned children just for the night in awe of this special display

This was Benjamin's firework

Up, up and away!

This one looked like a volcanic eruption

I tried to get this one as it was let go over the water, but it was very hard because you didn't know exactly when they were going to burst.

These are just a few of the thousands we saw.
Each person let off more than Mt Beauty do each New Year.

Phil and Casey looking on, toward the tip of Lee Point

Just a small grass fire started with wayward sparks...

We ended up at Darwin foreshore, where Benjamin met a guy happy to share his fireworks.

The showers of sparks after the explosion

It was an awesome sight!!

This reminds me of 'big bang theory'

And this is just crazy!!

This one is called the 'Big Bang Theory' and it nearly took a few eyes out...but it didn't!!

Benjamin and his mate 'moving away' after he lit the fuse

These ones were the pyramids and they spun until

finally flying up in the air...they were great!

Esther was also in her element, being given free reign, in a couple of boxes of fireworks, from the wholesalers.

Eliza wasn't too keen on the noise and found this to be her favourite...the 'pooping puppy', for obvious reasons

Benjamin and Eliza put on a show or two for us...they are very talented and confident...we love it!

They wrote their own script.
They were robots, who kept meeting up on their travels around Australia.

The end pose

The final bow!

Then we were 'encouraged' to get 'selfies' with the stars of the show and autographs, which they had been practising...

A final sunset in Darwin and isn't it spectacular?!

The stones had beautiful colours that I could not quite pick up on my camera on my iphone

Could have stayed a lot longer, it was a beautiful spot.

Ever-changing colours right on sunset

We've had a great time in Darwin.
Just learning about its history and admiring its beauty...
well the fireworks made it that much more enjoyable!

Next stop Litchfield...
