Friends along the way to Bunbury

This was really clever planning...They had two lanes heading south, two heading north, separated by a train line down the middle and being diverted under the road at times.

Mandurah was a lovely stop just to stretch the legs, although saying that, it was not because they had nothing much to offer, but more that we had a deadline to get to a friend down the road. We would definitely visit this town for longer if it were closer. A really lovely quit tourist town, without being pretentious.

A beautiful view of the town, before we arrived.

We stopped here, while I made our lunch and the kids had a play on the well kept playground and grass area.

Phil getting a very rare photo of me on his phone.

I'll let you caption this one of Benjamin...funny kid!!

"Where's mine"?

Some gorgeous street art along the walking paths, heading towards the town.

We were very blessed...in the right place at the right time, to see a dozen or more dolphins in the estuary.

I thought of Aunty Marlene when we saw this amazing piece of working art...

We found some more yummies here, even the liquorice sticks for Dad...now just to get them home unopened...

Phil caught up with a housemate from school days...Peter Reid and his lovely wife Pam (who just happens to be the sister of Elaine's next door neighbour back in Dederang)

The children had loads of fun with their daughter Adesha, while little Ashley was happy to be nursed.

We stayed in Pinjarra by the side of an Alcoa railway.
It was cold and in the morning Phil had to try and do something about the air leaking from the brakes.
He was lying in an inch or two of water on his back for quite a while before we hit the road for Waroona...

Eliza made him a nice warm piece of toast. We didn't have power so we cooked it in a pan with butter and then smeared it in jam and gave it a lashing of cream. It warmed him up inside and out.

We made it to Waroona through a day of rain (I can't complain it was probably only the first or second we have seen so far) to our new and dear friends Dave and Penny Smith, who we had only met back in Exmouth.

Esther showing off the little pier, one Dave's sons had made on his dam.

Getting a tour around their lovely property.

The sun came out long enough for us to get out in the garden and see what progress they had made since they moved there only 18 months ago. It's a credit to them, it was absolutely beautiful and I can only imagine how glorious it would be in Spring.

Its an amazing feeling when you just meet people that feel like you have known them for so long, like they are part of your family. We love you guys! Thanks for making us feel so loved!

On to Bunbury before we get to Busselton.

Dairy country.

This was a gorgeous building and it even looked like it was still in operation. I thought of Dad as I passed it, all those times he talked about the old ice cream companies...

We made it to Bunbury...It was a pretty little coast line but we had to get to Busselton, as we had teed up our windscreen to be repaired while we were there. So after a quick stretch of the legs, off we went.

As the sun was getting lower.

No photo or words could do scene justice...
