What a Spectacular Outback - 10 May 2014

We didn't know what to expect going to this show... a lot of money but a friend recommended it and it was part of the VIP park pass we purchased as a family so...an open mind..

Meeting one of the stars

This is where the craziness started!

Just warming up...

Oh my goodness where they hyped up...I hope this show is going to be worth it.
We were told to get here at 6:15pm-6:45pm, which we did, however then when we received our seat numbers were made aware that we would have to wait till the show started at 7:30pm. It was a long wait and it was just to make money from drinks and photo opportunities...we declined all and waited for the show.

Dinner is served

Beauty! I was getting hungry

An entrée of salad wrapped with a gorgeous tangy mango dressing called the "swag"
and it was all waiting for us when we were seated.

The beginning of the show and my favourite dog. So well trained.

Eliza ate the lot, which was saying something.
Next course was bought out hot.
Couldn't take a photo, as I was asked to put my camera away...lame excuse about the lighting guys...wasn't even using flash...another money maker...anyway no photo of the beautiful Eye Fillet with mash potato and vegetables. It was delicious!! and our glasses were never dry, being asked if we wanted refills throughout the night.

What a fantastic show!!!

Audience participation was 100% Even Esther got into it!!

The show was about the history of the horse and how it was bought to Australia and what they have been used for throughout our short history. And then of course one of the most famous racehorses in history Phar Lap. It was done so well.

Pavlova for dessert...it was delicious with a raspberry coulee

Boys racing against girls...so fun

We also had two teams. You are given one of two colours on your complimentary RM Williams hat as you arrive. This determines the team you are on and who you cheer for throughout the show.
Our team won!!

Even a handful of children participated in the show, racing with little shetlands

And some fellas had fun racing against each other

Female horse stunt riders against boys on their four wheelers...horses and girls won! Of course

More crazzzyyy Esther during the show

Eliza was in her element...being waited on hand and foot and a drink of lemonade all night

Esther's beautiful vegetable pie and mash with vegetables...so yummy.

This was absolutely beautiful...so worth the price and the wait

Ps James and Mr Waite would love this show!

 The following day...being Mothers' Day
Phil wanted to take the two youngest to Paradise Country, another park as part of or VIP three park pass... you do the maths...

Isnt that a cute kid...

Checking out the wonderful facilities

Benjamin and Eliza both happy to help light the fire, for the bloke showing us how to make damper and billy tea...

Apparently needing a young lady with muscles, I put my hand up...

Good billy tea. Safest place to be, while there were so many tourists

Showing how a stock horse is better than a four wheeler...still not convinced

 But he was very clever

Teaching us about whips while 'cracking' a joke about snakes to me, after previously playing a practical joke on me at the billy tea tutorial...putting a red-belly black snake into the camp oven tied to the lid and as he lifted the lid the snake 'came alive' and so did I!! jumping onto the lady beside me.

very clever cattle dog

getting cheeky with the 'snake' man, squirting milk at me, while trying to take the photo

 very cheeky!!

Watching how its done

This guy was pretty cute, snuggling for an itch behind the ear

With the Paradise Country gang

Happy Mothers' Day
