Caloundra Cousins

 Welcome to....

Caloundra

A nice visit from Michelle, who Phil hasn't seen in a very long time

Michelle's Dad Ron and Mum Linda (Phil's cousin and his wife)

Ron was very kind to help Phil work on his bus fixing gauges and lots more.
He owns Torquegas / Opposite Lock here in Caloundra, which is where we have been camping.

One of the beautiful trees called Buccaneer. Its not a eucalypt but sure looks like it.

Dad McKelvey and Polly would love this beast. Phil's cousin Nic owns and races it.

It was loud!!

Bear loved it!

Exploring first day down at Shelley Beach

Breathtakingly beautiful

Meeting some of the locals...not sure what he was but he was very pretty when he opened right up.

Unfortunately for us, this one was already dead on arrival...
he was quite big and would have fed us all.

Lots of fun with the kids just wondering over the amazing sights

Like this naturally formed (almost perfect) cylindrical hole about 3 foot deep

That's the boys! gotta climb to the highest point

If I don't take a selfie...you wouldn't know I was even here with them.

Just some of the local grub

Thought we'd check out something further up the road on a colder wetter day...
Mum, I thought of you here

The tour was fascinating and I learned a few things that I might give a go when I get home.

This is a model of the ginger in the ground. They say if you do it right, you can grow your own by using the stuff from the shops...

Tonnes of ginger being soaked in brine, getting it ready for all sorts of products.
Of this, 65% gets exported.

Taste testing as part of the tour, even Phil had a go...and I think he actually liked it.

Across the road to the Nutworks (chocolate factory), which was more up the children's ally, being nuts and all!

At cousin Ron's place where the kids found fun friends that just loved a pat.
Toby and Casey

Went for a 5km walk this morning with Benjamin

What a promise!!

Couldn't keep the kids away from the water any longer

A perfect hole above our swimming spot, just for us

What will tomorrow hold?...

Thanks to our wonderful family who have made us feel right at home...maybe a little too much, fixing our Big Red for the long journey

The kids meeting new cousins...they love!

 Older cousins catching up...

Even the little dog 'Casey' got in on the picture

Saying goodbye wasn't easy...we love you guys!!
